Apple iPhone 5 tech specs leaked

Apple iPhone 5 is in its testing stage, “discreetly,” or so claims a senior staff member of Apple.

After reporting to you that iPad 2 may get double of full HD display, we have discovered some dough on the next generation iPhone 5. Rumor has it that the iPhone 5 is been completely redesigned. We hear from Apple Daily that the iPhone 5 will pack a new A8 processor that’s based on a multi-core Cortex A9 chip. Also see: Previous iPhone 5 rumors

The new Apple flagship smartphone is said to feature a Qualcomm chipset that would come with CDMA, GSM and UMTS baseband support. This clearly means that the iPhone 5 will be made compatible with both Verizon’s and AT&T’s network. However, the iPhone 5 may lack 4G LTE support. Well, this is little disappointing, but 4G LTE networks are still in their nascent stage in the United States and this way the iPhone 5 will avoid the teething problems. Apple’s iPad 2 and iPhone 5 are said to feature a new version of Apple’s custom A4 chip, with dual, faster graphics cores capable of supporting a Retina Display. Apple’s iPad 2 is also expected later this year. The new iPad 2 and iPhone 5 will have more speed on the graphics as well as video processing front. To support high-quality video conferencing, Apple will include hardware acceleration for video decoding and encoding, The next-generation iPad is expected to feature a front-facing camera, which did not make into the original iPad.

According to rumors, Apple will not only be upgrading its video core, but also going to move to multiple cores, which will come in the SGX543 design. Apple’s new custom chip will most probably be in the SGX543 MP2 architecture, which pairs two SGX543 cores to work as one. This will offer around four times the capability of the previous A4 in graphics and video tasks. The new graphics core also supports OpenCL, which is used to offload general purpose computing tasks on the GPU for faster execution.

It is rumored that Sony would be using the same multiple core SGX543 architecture, by using four or eight cores, in its upcoming PlayStation Portable 2.

Coming to our domestic Indian market, even the iPhone 4 still has not been officially launched in India. So, we don’t know when and at what prices would iPhone 5 see the light of the day in India. But the smartphone would need to be really powerful as Indian buyers are hungry for feature-rich smartphones and a deluge of Android phones are slated for release in India.
