That’s why today’s designer can be more like an “ecological father” of new ideas, for the next coming generations. Envi, is a foresight urban dustbin, promoting composting from biodegradable waste. The project is based on a social approach. It shows the benefits that we can take from urban recycling. It makes waste into nutritious compost for the plant which it carries and lives in harmony with. The big part of the produced compost can be separated from Envi for usage in other occasions.

Concept future – traffic light

A new concept project by korean design and development studio psychic factory,
‘droplet traffic light’ imagines a future where time spent waiting at red lights is not wasted away. The device is modeled on the standing style of traffic light. After turning red, the light swivels its LED displays to project news headlines and useful information such as the weather or time. Shortly before turning green, the display switches again, and the device returns to functioning as a normal traffic light. The device retains an appearance similar to conventional traffic lights.

Designer Marco Vanella has come up with an innovative handset named the “Motoworkr,” which apart from performing basic communication needs also incorporates different tools required for regular health checkup to provide first aid during emergencies. Intended towards doctors or medical professionals, the new cellphone integrates a Bluetooth thermometer and tensiometro port for reading digital and medical card to update or transfer health records of the patients.

A window-fitting air purifier that constantly measures quality of indoor and outdoor air then lets outdoor air inside or filters the indoor air. The idea is that when the outside air quality is poor, the purifier can kick on and begin cleaning the indoor air. This allows the expensive HEPA filters to last longer.

Next generation camera phone

MotoLINK was created for a Product Design course, in which students were asked to design the next generation camera phone for Motorola. Over the course of six weeks, I worked closely with Motorola representatives to gain an understanding of manufacturing/engineering processes, UI design, materials, and color and finish. The assignment afforded skills in prototyping, sketching, and the use of 3D modeling to convey my final concept.

Portable induction cooktop

Roll-Up – a foldable portable induction cooktop. Standard cooktops have heating components in close proximity to electronic components, which requires a good insulation layer between them. The result is a compact but thick product. Roll-up, on the other, hand separates the two components rendering the heating component very thin and elegant. In addition, when induction coils are made smaller, as is the case with the Roll-Up, the heating component can be folded. Electronic component is placed in a fancy looking hard-drive like case. These features of the Roll-Up enable portability of this cooktop.

The Windows Weather Phone is not only able to predict weather accurately, but also make its completely transparent body mimic the weather. If it’s snowing outside, it would appear as if it’s realistically snowing inside the phone itself- creating an astounding illusion.

Having just celebrated my second wedding anniversary, my single days are (touch wood) behind me. As such, the Electrolux Personal Mini Kitchen isn’t the most practical gadget for me, but it sure is damn cool–in a high-tech lunchbox sorta way.

This phone works in tangent with the charger, its cradle, the phone and magnets creates a space in which the phone back on while charging, creating a unique aesthetic experience.First, the phone itself has a sleek candybar design you should all be relatively familiar with. The iPhone and a slew of Android-based phones look right along these lines, and this looks fabulous. Hollow parts at the top and bottom of the phone “ensure that it is being charged wirelessly” though how that’s accomplished appears to be a trade secret. The phone is thin, streamlined, and made to fit naturally in the palm of your hand.

For most people from many different disciplines a desk is the main workspace. A typical desk is composed of at least one or more vertical displays that show digital content and a larger horizontal area, containing input devices, such as mouse and keyboard, paper-based documents, and everyday objects. These two areas are clearly separated which makes it hard to move documents from one surface to the other. Furthermore, each area employs a different interaction technique. For example, we use the mouse for drawing on vertical displays but physical pens to annotate paper-based documents. BendDesk is our vision of a future workspace that allows continuous interaction between both areas.

Conceived by Dutch designer Valentin Neda, the “Pico P” is a projector concept that fits in your pocket for easy transportation, allowing to user to conduct an instant presentation anywhere, anytime. The portable projector is based on laser technology, which does not require any adjustment or focusing, as it positions itself with the integrated stand. All the user need to do is place the projector in front of any flat surface, and it project graphs or images with just a single push of a button. Featuring integrated memory, the pocket-sized projector generates power from a built-in battery capable of running it nonstop for about two hours on a single charge, which is just enough for a presentation or a movie.

The RIMA lamp is an awesome beauty that has what it takes to be artistic and fun. Four controller rings manage the whole show…sliding them left to right or vice versa illuminates the LEDs or switches them off. The heat, intensity, angle of the beam and color are controlled via these rings, however a processor, which detects the position of each single ring, regulates the actions.

Google Magnify is the latest concept to be created by Anh Nguyen. This concept began with a funny email that he had been going around the office at his work. He went up to their intern, who just happened to be from France, before realizing that he would have a tough time reading it. BA Smartphone Concept

Maleville Sébastien recently detailed the BA Smartphone concept, a pretty innovative idea that can be seen in the images below. This is a rotating phone with a physical keyboard and touch display. The BA name comes from the number eight in Chinese, that is the symbol of full versatility , both horizontally and vertically.

London designer Patrick Hyland has come up with a rather zany conceptual handset, borrowing the Nokia name for his design. What makes the Nokia E-Cu (E is for environment, while Cu stands for Copper) so special, you ask? Well, it can be juiced thanks to available heat in your pocket. This is made possible since an integrated thermogenerator will convert heat from any source into electrical energy in order to juice up the handset, regardless of whether it resides in your pocket or is placed on top of a radiator. Does this mean we can now toast our phones over the fireplace while sipping on hot chocolate and munching on marshmallows?

Nissan has unveiled a new solar tree concept at CEATEC 2010, which is a part of the 2030 Zero-emission City proposal that Nissan and some other companies are participating in. The Solar Tree concept is a tree-like structure with three translucent solar panels onboard. The solar panels track the position of the sun for optimal energy generation.

Sometimes, a concept device really makes you sit back and think to yourself, “is this possible?” Surely I’m not the only one that is thinking the same thing about the Seabird concept device from Mozilla Labs, which would truly push the boundaries of a mobile device if a physical unit ever sees the light of day.
The most interesting thing about this concept, and ultimately the least plausible, is the dual Pico projectors, which can simulate a physical QWERTY keyboard that can be interacted with by the user, as well as project the phone’s display in a much larger format.
Kind of like a swiss army knife, this concept device also houses a wireless pointer, as well as a pop-out Bluetooth headset. While both of these sound cool, in reality they just don’t seem very practical.

TokyoFlash came up with a new interesting watch concept. I think it’s a little bit difficult to read the hours, you need some time to get used to it. The hours are displayed in digits as empty spaces at the center of the display. The minutes are shown by those blocks surrounding the digits, there are small markings to help you read it easier. There are 2 buttons on the watch, top and bottom. The light up function is activated when you press one of them and the other one is to setup the time. Pretty simple, yet pretty hard to read. Would you buy this product?

Yogesh Kumar Baghel’s MITRA PC is a cylinder-shaped portable computer. It was designed for rural areas in India in order to spread the importance of education, health and other social issues for the development of the country.
The term “mitra” means “friend,” and the MITRA PC is also an eco-friendly gadget that uses solar energy to store and use in case of emergency. The MITRA PC contains a built-in LED projector for convenient presentation, as well as a hand crank charging facility to generate power (rotating the crank 30 times provides 30 minutes of use).

Designer Mac Funamizu has come up with a cellphone concept that the user can wear on his/her wrist like a watch or a bracelet. Entitled the “Dew,” the futuristic mobile device displays content in 3D hologram and features a ball in the middle that works as a controller. You can slide the ball in different directions, which changes colors to indicate different modes.

The Vital Monitoring System allows the medical staff to remotely view the vital signs of the patient under their care without having to be in the same location. The device helps the doctors care for more patients than normal. This amazing device is easy to carry around as it can be strapped on the wrist of the patient, and it is designed to check the body temperature, the pulse rate and the blood pressure. The data is transferred wirelessly to a digital chart for later review and access.

Cellphone concept designed to be powered by solar energy

The 3D Mobile Phone is the brainchild of industrial designer Petr Kubik, who wants to add a bit of sustainability to your endless chatters with renewable solar energy. The concept features an expandable touchscreen display that slides out to better the experience of the user.
A layer of photovoltaic cells has been included on the back of each slide panel to juice up the device from renewable energy. The user can control application icons in 3D environment using an interactive stylus and 3D glasses that are placed at the rear of the phone.

Kitchen of the future

With the technology evolving with better and better gadgets surfacing every damn day, it is time to upgrade our kitchens with some of the goodness from the world of thingamajigs. We are talking about Team Synergy’s Quism interactive cooking platform which lets you cook and dine almost anywhere. This is one intuitive and interactive system which renders the facility to cook and dine with the family using features such as tele-cooking, tele-dining and even sharing of recipes. This implies that you may be physically away from your family but you can still cook and dine with them. What is more is that this cook-top uses a dehumidifier technology that helps generate its own water reservoir. I see great use of this product in those amazing recreation vehicles which are so often used for permanent living and traveling.

Future music player 2020

Projecting a music player for the year 2020, designer José Ignacio Martínez has developed a portable music player concept for Apple dubbed the “iPod Shuffle2020” that packs unlimited music and battery capacity. Sending the user’s music in his iTunes account through G3 Internet to the inner receptor of the Shuffle, the device is updated automatically every time the user turns it on, as it always remains in sync with the music the user has in his/her computer. The battery also reacts to the G3 waves automatically and remains juiced up all the time.

There are a lot of expectations from our gadgets these days, and somewhere down the line we have blurred their definition. For example a phone doubles up as a video camera, still camera, voice recorder, MP3 player, movie player, web browser, sketchpad and much more…. But this also doesn’t mean that we are done with individual devices. Tenna is a device that looks at adding the telephone function to individual gadgets like an MP3 player, thus doing a U-turn on how we perceive a phone.

Florent CUCHET’s Orange Loadbox is a stylish product that with its smart functionality pleases all. It’s a house plant that illuminates and grows when you transfer and download data. It lets you know the quantity of data transmitted and downloaded. Your stream of transferred files is symbolized by a house plant graphic drew on the wireless router. If someone else is using your net to download files, you come to know by seeing the plant growth on the Orange Loadbox.

Digilog Memory – USB Stick

Where is the scribble paper when you need it? Never ever around; and the same thing goes for pen and other stationery items! Not all of us are as organized as the Virgos who have prim-n-proper workspaces. Hence, a USB stick with a notepad to it is an AWESOME idea! Details like a plastic cover to keep the notes contained really impress me. I wonder if this will mean the demise of notepapers, or is this the second generation already? Designer: Soon-won Kim

I would love to have Twilight for better air circulation and showing off in my house! Take a look at this futuristic home appliance and you’ll feel the same way. The main idea of Twilight is to establish better functions and better interaction among users, environment, and appliances. You can feel a light breeze to chill, mixed up with your favorite fragrances, home sweet home. An OLED display allows you to view images or videos that can be uploaded to the Twilight via the remote control. I’m thinking of using it as a room divider, I won’t be surprised when people go “wow” the first time they see it.

In the future nearly every visible thing will be cataloged and indexed, ready to be instantly identified and described to us. Want to go shopping? In the future we won’t need big retail stores with aisles of objects on display. We’ll be able to shop out in the world (see image, above). Do you like that new car you saw drive by? Or those cool shoes on the woman sitting across the room? All you’ll have to do is look at it and your mobile handset or AR-equipped eyeglasses will identify the object and look up the best price and retailer.

Designer Evan Jardee takes on a redesign project for one of the most well-known models of modern industrial design in the world. In the whole world! The polaroid camera. If you think about it, you can almost certainly pop up an image or two in your head about what the camera itself looks like. Everyone knows what it does. How about taking that instant-print concept though, and adding more functionality, then also changing the form almost entirely? Sounds like fun!

E.capsule concept Energy is everywhere, Designer Alex Dumler

The E.Capsule replaces the current gas stations with energy stations in a form of a tree that can generate and accumulate energy into a reusable capsule to empower a two person future vehicle. The smaller and more flexible stations uses rain, wind and sun power to generate energy and stores them into the e.capsule that can be easily plugged in the specially designed vehicle containing four spots for these power source, each providing 75km of smooth riding. When refueling is needed, move to the nearest energy tree and replace your used E.Capsules with fully charged one.

Now you too can get all of your temps in dot form! Yay! This concept is a faucet and it’s name is “Tempdot.” The quick and simple reasoning for this is that there’s dots on top of the faucet, dots that both activate the water flow and control the temperature of that water at the same time. Simply drag your finger across the neck of this lovely lady, lift where you want the temperature to reach, and wait for water! To turn off again, just a little bump will do.
The alternate title of this post is Dots of Ice. That’s because these dots can deliver either. Made by a repeat designer here at Yanko, Jaeseok Han, this faucet is simple, nice to look at, and to me it seems pretty reasonable. It reduces the amount of metal that’s got to be used, and the lights on top are said to be recharged by the hot water flow through the system. How nice? How nice.

Of all the things that are usually covered here on BornRich, it’s the kitchens that loom so large in the future. We have had a glimpse of what our kitchens will hold in the future, but there’s an important aspect that has been added to our kitchen concepts – Text Message. FTK has integrated mobile technology into various kitchen appliances to make them work remotely through your cellphones. The user can defrost refrigerator or put dishes away in the oven if alerted by SMS.

Led Galaxy

With the massive environmental pollution, the reduced figure of stars in the sky has been observed. The Led Galaxy is a streetlamp that is designed to address this issue by bringing the stars on the ground through powerful LEDs, making an artificial galaxy that can make people comfortable and remind about the nature again. The idea features a brighter reverberator than the conventional one, making more recognizable stars as a galaxy under the streetlight. The lack of bright illumination is addressed by passing the light through the transparent bio-basin coating. The base is made of sturdy carbon fiber and provides ventilation for the concept to perform better.

One of the major benefits of having gadgets is that it constantly connects us to the world and what’s happening in it. Though these technological devices have allowed us to interact with data from anywhere we choose, there isn’t a unique delivery system for the information they’re delivering especially when “news” is concerned. The printed versions of newspapers can offer mobility, much like a device, but access to content can be cumbersome in certain reading situations. How do we combine the affordances of print and online versions of news and translate that hybrid into a single device? A medium that conforms to human practices and the varied scenarios of accessing news.

Future concept of mobile computing

How small and portable a computer can be? It’s almost impossible for us to avoid computer in our everyday life. Industrial designers show us glimpses of the future we are heading towards by their unusual concepts. Designer Elodie Delassus’s HOLO computer concept is hinting at the necessity of computers and need to make them easier to carry.

With the facts that holographic and sound vibrations are the future, he has re-invented the computer through his design. From the images and information available, we can figure out that this futuristic gadget is as small as a bracelet, which you can wear or put in pocket. The proposed material is flexible and resistance, so that safety issues could be dealt with efficiently. Further material needs to be shape retaining and non-conductive and non-allergic and most important, heat resistant. All these aspects have been considered by designer and he suggests promising bioplastic material to ensure all these aspects. The concept is very alluring, no doubt, but without technical specifications and functional information it’s just like a hypothesis that is waiting for proof in get materialized.

Welcome to the future of handheld gaming. I mean it. This is one of those futures in gaming that I’m really betting on. This project is sleek, it’s nice, it becomes flat, it’s basically everything I imagine the gaming industry hitting on in a few years. This project is a concept for a future class of Nintendo hand-held gaming, really similar to the current Nintendo DS in many respects. This one’s got a fully interactive 3-D interface. Basically the same amazing stuff you see in the newest Iron Man movie, all jammed in a cute little Nintendo.

SENSE – Touch of Reality

SENSE is an innovative wireless device concept that enables users to get a close and more intuitive approach with their preferred sites, games and movies by creating a sensitive and powerful connection between the system and theusers . By featuring a tact sensitive screen, this device creates a tactile experience of thermal, physical and haptical properties of a product on the computer screen.

The users have to insert their hand in the SENSE sheath to perceive different object properties like pressure, softness, roughness, hardness and many others, which is transferred to the user’s brain by featuring quite a few numbers of nerve receptors inside the device. Moreover, it features a magnification system to allowusers to sense even a particular area of a product pointing on the screen. To taste a recipe before being cooked, the device features a flavor-ink micro-printer that generates stimulated flavors via the combination of its 5 basic wax cartridges.
